Europe is home to some of the best ski resorts in the World and here we look at eight resorts in particular that are best catered for snowboarders.
Tignes is perhaps the most established resort area for snowboarding. A former host of the Winter X Games it has incredible variety to suit all desired formats. It takes snowboarding seriously and offers a training school and a variety of retail stores for all paraphernalia. Val Thorens, Courchevel and Meribel
If incredible scenery is the order of the day, Val Thorens is the place to visit. Providing access to some of the best overall resorts in Courchevel and Meribel, the region is located at the summit of the Three Valleys. It is indeed a winter sports paradise.
If this is your first attempt at snowboarding, there are a number of other sites that might be more suitable for the beginner. Do not venture onto advanced terrain without proper experience.Another region for an excellent blend of evening entertainment and boarding is Ischgl which is great for schooling due to an expansive range of English speaking coaches. It is a charming village and offers a unique appeal for visitors searching for a blend of welcoming local culture.
Saas Fee is the home of the British Snowboarding Team but has a sizeable range of beginner and intermediate slopes. It offers some of the best ski and boarding schools anywhere in the world so is a great venue to learn your sport.
If you are especially interested in freestyle snowboarding then one of the best resorts to snowboard is Mayrhofen – aimed at accomplished boarders looking for excitement. With extreme slopes and great night life, it is a popular venue for many North American visitors.
For free-riding boarders, St. Anton is an excellent choice as it is a quiet resort with few beginners to slow experienced boarders. It is a bit in the outback of that region of the Alps but still a great place to visit in the evenings.
Les Deux Alpes
