Hope the off-season is treating you well. I’m coping with the lack of snow reasonably well (so far).Â
The 2024-2025 season is gearing up to be an exciting one though, with several huge competitions you won’t want to miss. From heated halfpipe showdowns to intense slopestyle battles, here’s the top events to keep an eye on:

1. X Games Aspen 2025
Dates: January 24-26, 2025 (tentative)
Location: Aspen, Colorado, USA
The X Games Aspen is one of the most anticipated events in snowboarding, featuring the world’s best riders competing in SuperPipe, Slopestyle, Big Air, and more. While the exact dates for 2025 are yet to be confirmed, it traditionally takes place in late January​.
2. Burton US Open 2025
Dates: Dates TBD (typically late February to early March)
Location: Vail, Colorado, USA
The Burton US Open is a legendary competition that attracts elite snowboarders from around the globe. This event showcases incredible talent in Halfpipe and Slopestyle disciplines and is known for its stoke-worthy festival atmosphere. Dates for 2025 are yet to be confirmed​.
3. FIS Snowboard World Championships 2025
Dates: March 17-30th, 2025
Location: St. Moritz/Engadin, Switzerland
The FIS Snowboard World Championships bring together the best snowboarders to compete in various disciplines, including Halfpipe, Slopestyle, Snowboard Cross, and Big Air. This prestigious event is a true test of skill and versatility​.Â
4. LAAX Open 2025
Dates: January 14-18, 2025
Location: Laax, Switzerland
The LAAX Open is renowned for its top-tier competitions and stunning alpine scenery. This event is a favorite among riders, featuring intense battles in Slopestyle and Halfpipe. If you get a chance to ride there, Laax has one of the best parks in Europe.
5. Dew Tour 2025
Dates: Dates TBD (typically early February)
Location: Copper Mountain, Colorado, USA
The Dew Tour is another major event on the snowboarding circuit, known for its innovative courses and high-energy atmosphere. Competitions in Slopestyle, Halfpipe, and Adaptive Snowboarding bring a diverse range of athletes to Copper Mountain. Dates for 2025 are yet to be confirmed.​
6. Winter X Games Europe 2025
Dates: March 20-23, 2025
Location: Tignes, France
Winter X Games Europe is the European counterpart to the Aspen X Games, featuring high-stakes competitions in Slopestyle, SuperPipe, and Big Air. This event attracts top international riders and offers some insane performances in the beautiful French Alps​.
7. Natural Selection Tour 2025
Dates: Various dates and locations
Location:
- Jackson Hole, Wyoming, USA;
- Baldface Lodge, British Columbia, Canada;
- Tordrillo Mountain Lodge, Alaska, USA
The Natural Selection Tour is a unique backcountry snowboarding competition that combines freestyle riding with natural terrain.
This tour showcases the creativity and skill of snowboarders as they navigate untouched powder and challenging features. Dates and locations for 2025 are yet to be confirmed​.
8. Freeride World Tour 2025
Dates: Various dates from January to March 2025
Locations: Various locations including
- Verbier, Switzerland;
- Fieberbrunn, Austria;
- Kicking Horse, Canada
The Freeride World Tour is the premier series for hardcore freeride snowboarding and skiing, taking place in some of the world’s most challenging backcountry terrains. Riders compete on steep, rugged slopes, making for some of the most gnarly and unpredictable events in snowboarding.
9. Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom 2025
Dates: February 7-9th, 2025
Location: Mt. Baker, Washington, USA
The Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom is one of the most famous and longest-running snowboard competitions. It focuses on speed and technique across a course filled with tight turns and natural features. This event attracts both amateur and professional riders from around the world. I highly recommend it!

After last year’s less-than-stellar snow conditions, this season is already shaping up to be epic!
