Out of all the places I’ve snowboarded this past decade, my favourite place has to be Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada. Lake Louise will always hold a special place in my heart. There are a number of reasons but the biggest reason has to be nostalgia – it’s where I proposed to my wife on a starry cold night back in January 2006 in an ice castle sitting on Lake Louise (pictures below). To be fair, I winged it having never visited Lake Louise before but Lake Louise came up trumps when someone kindly built an ice castle on a frozen lake to stage my proposal. I really couldn’t have asked for a more romantic setting, so thank you whoever built it 🙂
Lake Louise has some seriously jaw dropping scenery everywhere you turn. I can’t imagine how beautiful this place is during the summer months. If the photographs I’ve seen are anything to go by, it’s spectacular.
In terms of ski / snowboard holidays – if you’re after a lively night scene with pubs and clubs, Lake Louise will certainly not be for you.
But if you’re looking for a holiday with some of the best snowboarding terrain, epic powder, brilliant ski lifts, stunning scenery, romantic settings, fantastic places to dine and exhilarating apres-ski activities then Lake Louise ticks all these boxes and more.
I could easily harp on all day about how special Lake Louise is, but if you get the chance, go for yourself and experience it. You won’t be disappointed.
Here are some photographs I took during our time in Lake Louise, full of special memories. We will definitely go back one day with our two boys.

You can’t help but take photographs of this place…even if you should be listening to your instructor

Quite possibly the best fun you can have away from the slopes on a snowboard trip…go snowmobiling. I will do this whenever I possibly can.
