So you’re curious about Nitro snowboards? A popular and innovative brand that is seemingly loved by snowboarders worldwide. But is Nitro a good snowboard brand?
Snowboarder’s regard Nitro as one of the best brands in the industry. Their boards, boots, and bindings are excellent. They are one of the few original snowboard brands that are still around today.
You can probably tell that I’m a big fan of Nitro. Let me tell you why…
Who Are Nitro Snowboards?
Nitro Snowboards was founded in Seattle, Washington, in 1990 by Tommy Delago and Sepp Ardelt. The brand initially focused on producing snowboards that offered a surf-style ride. They therefore quickly gained popularity among riders looking for a more laid-back and surf-inspired ride.
Over the years, Nitro has expanded its product line to include a wide range of snowboards, bindings, boots, and outerwear. They now cater to all different riding styles and skill levels. Nitro is now a well-established brand in the snowboarding industry and is known for its innovative designs and high-quality products.
Even though Nitro has been around for so long, it heavily focuses on the riders’ needs rather than chasing the dollar (unlike certain other big brands). Along with its excellent products, this philosophy makes Nitro one of the most respected snowboard brands.
Nitro Snowboard Tech And Construction
Nitro strives to bring riders innovative snowboard technology to enhance their mountain experience.
For example, their Powerlite Core makes their boards lightweight and responsive while providing lots of pop. Thanks to the Dual Damping system, you will also find that Nitro boards are smooth. This reduces chatter and vibrations at high speeds with a combination of urethane and rubber dampers.
This damping is essential, as Nitro’s high-performance sintered base is made with a proprietary blend of materials that provides maximum speed and durability.
You should also look out for Nitro’s Cam-Out Camber. This camber profile is designed to provide a lively, responsive feel that is easy to control and handle.
Nitro also uses multi-layer fibreglass laminates called Bi-Lite Laminates to increase the strength and durability of their boards while keeping the weight to a minimum.
The Nitro Quiver Series
The Nitro Quiver Series started as a collection of three snowboards, one for rails, an all-mountain shredder, and a powder snowboard. Now the collection includes eight boards that suit various terrain types. The idea is to grab the perfect board for the conditions as you leave home.
It has been known for Quiver boards to be so good, Nitro has upgraded them to the main lineup.
For a more detailed look, watch Nitro co-founder (Tommy Delago) explain the Quiver series below.
